Abstract
The Mysomakedones were known only from Ptolemy, Pliny and one inscription from Antioch on the Maeander. A newly recorded bronze coin in private hands, with Augustus on the obverse and Zeus standing with an eagle on the reverse, allows further conclusions. It confirms an Augustan or Tiberian date for a coin published by Münsterberg in 1915 showing Livia as an enthroned Demeter and the Artemis of Ephesus. Pliny and the inscription place the Mysomakedones east of the Lydian Mesogis, not in Mysia as Ptolemy states.
