Abstract
The paper examines the chronology of Aksumite coinage proposed by Wolfgang Hahn, which rests on the assumption of a dual kingship and on the typology of the coins. The author welcomes Hahn's break with earlier schemes and works through the proposed sequence step by step, in order to establish how much of it can be reconciled with the numismatic, epigraphic and literary evidence.
