Abstract
A hoard of 37 ashrafis in private hands was submitted to the Munich State Coin Collection for identification; eastern Anatolia is named as the find region. Thirty-six pieces carry the name of Ismail I, one that of his successor Tahmasp I. The mint survives on 32 coins and the date on eleven; where dates are missing, the author infers the period of striking from the recorded dates of conquests. The catalogue is therefore accompanied by a survey of the campaigns of Ismail I and a map of the mints.
