Abstract
Roman Republican denarii had a considerably long time of circulation. Therefore their value for the chronology of archaeological contexts usually has been regarded rather sceptically. Two denarii from the years 122 and 121 B.C. found in Manching let the author wonder about their burial date. Both types are often represented in lst century B.C. hoards, one of them last shows up in a hoard with a latest coin that is dated in 12 B.C. Weight and conservation of the two pieces in question make it probable that they were buried in the lst half of the ist century or around 50
