Abstract
The paper deals with two common early imperial countermarks from Upper Germany. It starts from the method that grew out of the criticism of Grünwald's 1946 reading of the countermarked coins from Vindonissa: overlapping shows the sequence, but dating must follow the latest coins on which a mark appears. Against this background the author re-examines the dating of the two marks.
