Abstract

The fourth part of the die corpus. Augsburg holds a special position among the mints of the Regensburg standard: it is the only one outside the Bavarian duchy and the only one that belonged to the bishop from the outset. Close study of the dies leads to datings different from those previously proposed. The key is the joint coin of bishop Ulrich with duke Henry I: did this war issue of 954 interrupt a coinage already running, or set it going in the first place?
