Abstract
The centenary history of the society. Out of a wintertime numismatic circle around Max Wilmersdoerffer, Bavarian coin enthusiasts from Augsburg, Bamberg, Munich, Nuremberg and Regensburg came together on 10 and 11 August 1881 at an anthropological congress in Regensburg. The paper follows the society through its rise to 1918, the interwar years, the period from 1933 to 1945 and the rebuilding after 1945, with appendices listing members and medals.
