Abstract

Around the middle of the nineteenth century Cornelius Reistorff illustrated a coin of Cleves from the Büderich mint, whose existence Alfred Noss doubted in his work on the coinage of Cleves. A specimen has now appeared at an auction in Essen. The paper describes it and concludes that the beginning of count Adolf's coinage as set out by Noss must be regarded as doubtful.
