Abstract

The opening of a loose series. Working for the name research commission of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences on the names borne by Merovingian coins, the author keeps meeting questions that reach beyond philology. The first contribution concerns the mint of Boulogne-sur-Mer: the four trientes of a moneyer that de Belfort records under the name BORSAS can probably be reduced to two coins.
