Literaturüberblicke der griechischen Numismatik: Altjüdische Münzen

Abstract

The thirteenth instalment of the literature surveys, and by far the largest. Departing from the rules otherwise followed, the editors here allowed greater detail, because the literature is widely scattered through publications usually absent from numismatic libraries and because many works appeared in Hebrew, so that fuller summaries seemed appropriate; even so the author had to accept considerable cuts. The survey is divided into a history of research, the state of the main problems, a chronological table and a bibliography running from the Jewish coins of the Persian period through the Maccabees, the Herodians and the procurators to the two revolts, with further sections on symbolism, palaeo-Hebrew coin script, misattributions and find reports.

This summary was produced automatically from the digitised full text and has not been checked by the editors.
