Abstract

The eleventh instalment of the literature surveys and, at eighty pages, the largest in the volume. Like the others it is intended, according to the editors' preface, to ease access for historians and archaeologists to the widely scattered numismatic literature and so to foster cooperation between the disciplines. It covers the literature on the coinage of Thrace. The survey opens with a detailed list of abbreviations which gives the years of publication for the journals and which, besides the customary numismatic sigla, uses those of the archaeological bibliography; the Bulgarian, Romanian and Hungarian series in which a large part of the relevant work appeared are also taken into account.
