Abstract
This study deals with the chronological attribution and the mints of the so-called "anonymous" macedonian bronze coinage. Hoards and the evidence of finds from archaeological excavations, the combination of monograms and mintmarks on the reverse, further the comparison with datable coins, showing similar types, permit to date the "anonymous" bronze coins into the last quarter of the 4th century B. C., originating from mints in Macedon, Asia Minor and Cyprus. WOLFGANG LESCHHORN, Zu den rhodischen Didrachmen des 4. und 3. Jh. v. Chr. — Der Schatzfund von Ulak (Coin Hards II 68), p. 67-94 The Ueak hoard from the interior of Asia Minor, containing 103 Rhodian didrachmae and 5 Ptolemaic tetradrachmae, leads to a systematic study of the minting of Rhodian didrachmae in the 4th and 3d centuries B. C. Variations of type, names of officials and mintmarks are investigated. Die links and change of type permit to put the material into different series of minting. By the dated Ptolemaic coins of the U§ak hoard it becomes possible to come to a new dating of the Rhodian didrachmae, around 50 years later than hitherto generally assumed. The hoard, buried around 256/250 B. C., is the first, containing Rhodian and Ptolemaic silver from the territories of the Seleucids and in some way probably is connected with the 2nd Syrian war
