Abstract
A hoard of 64 hemidrachmae of Rhodus, found in Northern Syria gives evidence to some hitherto unpublished magistrate's names and mintmarks. It therefore is worthwhile a general study of the plinthophoric coinage, introduced in Rhodus between 188 and 173 B. C. Magistrate's names and mintmarks are the main subject to investigation. Die linkages and the arrangement of the mintmarks are leading to different groups of this coinage for the entire production of these plinthophoric hemidrachmae. The hoard published here is the first one coming from the Near East and giving evidence to economic relations between Rhodus and the Seleucid empire
