Abstract
The first part of a presentation of hitherto unknown German Renaissance medals. The paper opens with the history of research: the Berlin Egyptologist Adolf Erman produced the first arrangement by medallist up to 1884, working from the Royal Prussian collection and expressly inviting correction. He was followed by Georg Habich, who at Wilhelm von Bode's suggestion devoted three decades to the German Renaissance medal until his death in 1932.
