Abstract
In his monograph on Schega, Paul Grotemeyer recorded that all the medallist's works in wax were lost, and regretted it: it was precisely in soft wax that most was to be expected of the artist's skill. Two wax models by Schega have now come to light, portraits of the Bavarian elector Max III Joseph and his consort Maria Anna. The paper presents them and tests Grotemeyer's expectations against them.
