Abstract
An obsidian seal ring stone from Persia came into the author's hands, inscribed on both faces, as happens when a stone later passes to a new owner. Both bearers carry the title servant of the commander of the faithful. Side A is cut in an elegant Kufic hand, side B clumsily and not without error. The title is likely to denote above all a loyal subject of the caliph.
