Abstract

Four notable pieces and groups from excavations, recoveries and surface finds of recent years are presented and illustrated. The first is an aureus of Septimius Severus, picked up from the ploughed surface inside the Roman fort at Theilenhofen by a walker at the end of September 1974. It belongs to the well known legionary series of 193/194 and weighs 7.048 g.
