Abstract

Michael Bates had convincingly reordered the chapter on the Mamluk sultan Baybars I, because the author's presentation of the issues of the two main mints, Cairo and Damascus, was disordered; the author concedes the point. Bates had also remarked that any corpus is out of date on the day it appears. The paper adds a new piece, notable if only for the rarity of the gold coins of the Circassian sultans.
