Abstract

Studying the two hoards of Jesendorf, dose to Vilsbiburg it is possible to discern a lot of varieties of 2-Kreuzer pieces (i.e. „Halbbatzen"), struck during the reign of the elector Maximilian I of Bavaria. For undated pieces by comparison with those dated a closer arrangement of the time of issue is attempted. The relationship of quantities of the dated coins from different years can well be estimated by looking at the frequency of their appearances in all Bavarian hoards studied. Also for the contemporary issue of other authorities issuing Halbbatzen the quantities of the years in question were ascertained by looking into the amounts in these Bavarian hoards and it was possible to draw conclusions concerning the volume of the issues and an the circulation
