Abstract
Based on the chronology, as worked out by R. Thomsen (1957-1961) and as accepted by M. Crawford (1974) and A. Burnett (1977) of the all in all eight Roman series of didrachms the author tries to get more exact results on the chronology by looking on the sources concerning the striking in precious metals and on the evidence of hoards in order to get a more precise date for the beginning of these series. By this he comes to a date of the first series, type „Quirinus/head of horse, ROMANO" (RRC 13), into 292 B. C. and of the last series „head of Janus/quadriga, ROMA" (RRC 28.3) into 241 (-214) B.C. Further he is discussing the meaning of the representations on these didrachms
