Von kupfernen Hellern und Kleingeldproblemen in Frankfurt 1770-1840

Abstract

The study deals with the circulation of counterfeit small change in Frankfort on the Main from 1770 to 1840. There is sufficient evidence in the files of the Frankfort City Archives dealing with production and circulation of counterfeit small coinage and with the prosecution of those involved in its distribution. We gain a clear picture on business relationships in the network of trade with counterfeit coinage, showing connections all over Central Europe.
