Abstract
Attempts to assemble coin corpora for the regions and cities of Asia Minor have stalled at the beginning: the Recueil Général covered Bithynia and then Pontus and Paphlagonia, von Fritze published the coins of Mysia in 1913, and neither work was continued. Clemens Bosch began on the imperial coinage of Asia Minor at the end of the 1920s; his forced emigration in 1934 put an end to the project, and his card catalogue at the German Archaeological Institute in Istanbul now holds some 35,000 cards covering more than 100,000 coins. The author considers a corpus produced single handed to be utopian; he argues for a policy of small steps and himself begins with cities of modest output, first Kolbasa in Pisidia.
