Abstract

The ninth instalment of the literature surveys which, according to the editors' preface, are intended above all as a tool: to ease the use of the widely scattered numismatic literature for historians and archaeologists and so to promote cooperation between numismatics and its neighbouring disciplines. This part covers the literature on the coinage of Ionia. It opens with a list of abbreviations which gives the years of publication for each numismatic journal and which, besides the customary sigla, uses those of the archaeological bibliography. Since 1954 the series has already covered Sicily, Epirus, Macedonia, the Peloponnese, Euboea, Mysia with the Troad, Aeolis and Lesbos, Spain and the cistophori.
