Abstract
This survey complements the earlier one on the pfennigs of the Regensburg type. Such a compilation is no arbitrary stringing together of coins that merely look alike: numerous finds show that it offers a kind of model find, even though no actual find covers the whole span, for these coins really did circulate together. The Würzburger takes its origin at Würzburg, where the episcopal mint began striking pfennigs again about the middle of the fourteenth century after the mass-produced Haller had interrupted its work; from then on the Haller recedes, yet it provides the basis of the new type. One Würzburger is usually reckoned at two Hallers. Characteristic is the round flan struck on both sides without the fourfold strike, with a legend on each face.
