Abstract
A numismatic study for the local history of Lohr am Main, which above all gathers earlier results of research. These had appeared in various journals that are hard to obtain and were therefore almost entirely overlooked by scholarship; some new findings were added from local tradition and from previously unknown sources on the coinage of Rieneck. At the same time the study aims to close a gap in the literature on the Franconian issues of the Middle Ages in the area between Mainz and Würzburg, Fulda and Wertheim. Detailed bibliographic preliminaries come first, pointing to the great bibliographies and to the specialist bibliography of numismatic literature down to 1926.
