Abstract
In arranging the rich Lycian series of the von Aulock collection the author departed at several points from the chronology accepted today, and sets out his reasons here. George Hill's classification still holds for the oldest series, but he merges Hill's series two and three, since Hill distinguishes only typologically and gives no sequence in time. An examination of the stater weights of the dynasts Kuprlli, Teththiveibi and Sppiltaza shows two different weight systems; comparison with staters bearing city names places the light standard of about 8.10 to 8.60 g in western Lycia and the heavy one of about 9.50 to 10.00 g at Antiphellos. From this follow the date and location of the groups that come next, the last of which includes the portraits of the dynasts Perikle and Mithrapata.
