Abstract
A word from the board on the seventy-fifth anniversary of the society, which coincided with the appearance of this volume. On 29 October 1881 a number of numismatists had come together in Munich for a founding meeting. Established to cultivate numismatics in Bavaria, the society intended above all to serve Bavarian numismatics while including other parts of the field, especially ancient numismatics, and to place the emphasis on literary work: individual studies were to appear collected as annual reports. As the result the board names the 55 annual volumes of the Mitteilungen from 1882 to 1937 and the volumes of the Jahrbuch published since 1949.
