Abstract

From the year 1440 on the Dukes of Brunswick imitated Groschen from Saxony and Hesse, but reducing their intrinsic value. These actually are not considered as real forgeries, but as a fraud, deliberately intended. Mainly imitated are thirds of Groschen with lion's shield and „Two shields"-Groschen from Hesse. Further the author is discussing forgeries by Seeländer. DIETRICH 0
