Who is the Munich king? Numismatic notes on a statue in the Munich Glyptothek

The over-life-size statue of a nude hero from the Albani collection in the Munich Glyptothek could long not be identified. Through the study of imperial-era coins of Athens that reproduce classical sculptures, it became possible to recognise the motif on a hitherto misjudged issue. The attributes suggest that it is the long-sought Erechtheus by Myron.
