The engraver and medallist Max Gube

The lecture honoured the life and work of the artist Max Gube, who lived from 1849 to 1904 and earned an outstanding reputation as an engraver and medallist in Munich. The focus was on his portrait medals of Munich citizens, Salzburg archbishops and Prince Regent Luitpold. The lecture placed Gube's work within the development of the art of the medal around the turn of the 19th to the 20th century.
