New aspects of the archaic coinage of Miletus

DIGITAL LECTURE

New aspects of the archaic coinage of Miletus

Rudolf Hilbert, Munich

The lecture presented new findings on the archaic electrum coinage of Miletus from the 6th century BC. Through die studies the issue could be divided into three minting phases, and coins previously attributed to Mylasa could be assigned to Miletus. The results point to an earlier start of minting around 620 to 600 BC and an end around 546 BC.
