The lecture dealt with the ancient love story of Hero and Leander, which first appears on imperial-era coinages of the cities of Sestos and Abydos. The focus was on art-historical research into a rediscovered painting by William Turner from 1828, in which the artist combined elite educational content with highly personal accents.
