Hans von Schellenberg-Stolz, the Little Ice Age, and what all this has to do with collecting coins

The lecture dealt with the letters of the imperial knight Hans von Schellenberg from the years 1595 to 1606 to the Schaffhausen pastor Johann Jakob Rüeger. They give insight into his personality and his motives. Coin collecting emerges as a central activity of this early modern collector, comprehensible only against the economic, political and cultural background of his time.
